A rather plodding and predictable plot, but overall still enjoyable, as the characters and music are very well acted/played. Lots of little subtleties. Loved the bits with Andrea and the housekeeper woman.

Both actresses are amazing... Maggie Smith in the one that got married and never got children, feels the love of a mother for the boy... Judy Dench has never been in love, and starts to fall for the boy... but when you really love someone, you let it go free...

Philip Wuntch 11 May 2005

A film of graceful persuasion and quiet majesty.

Amazing. Witty and beautifully done. Dench and Smith play their roles wonderfully.
