Trucker (2008)

Loner Diane Ford is a truck driver with an 11-year-old son, Peter, whom she never sees, and that's fine with her. But, when Peter's father, Len, falls ill, he asks Diane to take care of their son for a while. Eventually, Diane reluctantly agrees, but she quickly realizes that caring for a child interferes with her independent lifestyle - and Peter isn't all that thrilled with the arrangement, either.

Monaghan's good, despite being too pretty, and the film, with a melodramatic storyline that seems perfect for a Hallmark TV movie, is good, too.

Trucker is a nice heartfelt story and features performances from Michelle Monaghan and Jimmy Bennett. The real strength of Trucker is the depth of emotion provided by the script and played out by the actors.

Written and directed by James Mottern, this is the story of a female truck driver and loner Diane Ford (Michelle Monaghan) whose life is suddenly changed when her ex-husband (Benjamin Bratt) is hospitalized and her estranged 11 year old son (Jimmy Bennett) comes to stay with her. Her married neighbor (Nathan Fillion) both helps and complicates matters by providing stability and sexual tension in Dianeâ??s world. Fiercely independent, Diane is forced to look at her self destructive lifestyle and to decide what is truly important.
