Trog (1970)

Anthropologist Dr Brockton unearths a primitive troglodyte — an Ice Age 'missing link': half-caveman, half-ape — in a local cave. Through experimentation, she manages to communicate with and domesticate him before he's released by an irate land developer and goes on a rampage, terrorising the local citizenry.

I admit it: I have a soft spot in my heart (and my head) for the stupefying, inexplicable 'Trog.'

The tiresome film, resorting to campy dramatics, should have been left in hibernation.

Not even really entertaining enough for a bad movie night, all scenes take place either in a cave, lab, or courtroom.

The dinosaur sequences are joltingly out of place and clearly culled from an earlier film, but Joan gamely joins in the ludicrous plot with her usual professionalism and verve.

The only reason to watch this movie is that Joan Crawford spends most of her time interacting with a guy in an ape mask -- not even a full costume -- and the whole time she's doing it totally straight.
