Quirky and vibrant, this is easily Jeunet's most amusing and accessible film to date. The phenomenal 3D really enhances the storybook feel alongside Jeunet's amazing colour palette for the film. It also helps he brought along a solid cast, headed by a great young lead as T.S who captures the brilliance and innocence of this prodigy.

A visually gorgeous fable (even the 3D is amazing) that Jeunet really knew how to make entirely believable, but still it feels like a first draft with structural problems and in need of a better treatment. Besides, Catlett is pretty terrible at times, while only Carter and Davis stand out.

TS Spivet looks wacky but is, in fact, purely bland. Films like this work best if you ignore the dialogue. Bring ear buds and you'll be fine.
