In the middle of a routine patrol, officer Daniel Carter happens upon a blood-soaked figure limping down a deserted stretch of road. He rushes the young man to a nearby rural hospital staffed by a skeleton crew, only to discover that patients and personnel are transforming into something inhuman. As the horror intensifies, Carter leads the other survivors on a hellish voyage into the subterranean depths of the hospital in a desperate bid to end the nightmare before it's too late.

Few horror fans will complain about a movie that’s so generous with well-constructed, energetically staged set pieces featuring elaborate makeup effects and plenty of nondigital goo. The Void is derivative, but delightful.

You don't get a lot of body horror movies nowadays, so this was a nice throwback. There are some really freaky Lovecraftian monsters, and the whole thing is delightfully violent and demented. The exhibition and dialogue do leave room for improvement but this isn't enough to detract from the scares.

Overall very 'D' rated cosmic horror. I was completely uninterested in the characters, and the poor acting didn't help. The effects were okay, mostly practical effects were used. Genuinely terrifying practical effects that rival some of the classic 80's greats like "The Thing". The pacing is amazing, giving you an exponential increase of extremely tense and mind boggling spooks over time as the movie progresses. The only complaint would be that the ending shot was ugly and kinda silly. Finally, a good Lovecraft movie.
