A fantastic film that is slightly more than the average action-comedy. It starts out slow and it takes a while for the viewer to find out what the film's approach is. But as soon as Pedro Pascal comes into the picture, it strikes just the right note. In fact, Pedro is the bearer of this film instead of Nicolas. The chemistry between the duo results in hilarious moments and the film does not take itself to serious. It turns out this was the right approach.

This is a pretty silly, far fetched yet very entertaining and daft action parody crime film. I don't think its especially memorable in a clever way but it sort of is in a 'its so random' sort of a way. Its definitely amusing and if you enjoy your action films, car chase scenes, explosions etc. then this is definitely one to watch. I suppose its pretty superficial but its certainly a fun film with plenty to distract and amuse, so I'd recommend it on that basis, yes (particularly if your familiar with the real Nicolas Cage's films).

A meta action-comedy about Nic Cage! What could go wrong? In theory this could be extraordinary, good or bad, but it rides right down the middle of exactly what your expectations are. It's completely watchable, and the acting is great, but the comedy is lazy and predictable. Pedro Pascal is very fun, and easily is the best part of the whole thing. I really enjoyed the more serious first half, but when it locked into the standard action movie second half I completely checked out. I tend to prefer Nic Cage's more serious roles these days, like Pig, because he is legitimately a great actor. I kept thinking that I'd rather be re-watching Hot Fuzz.

As a Nicolas Cage movie — not just as a movie, but as a vehicle for what a specific actor can do onscreen — this is the most interesting thing Cage has done since “Face/Off.”
