Bogartia ennen tahteytta. Tarkotus oli kattoa Bogartin ensimmainen isohko rooli ja kehuttu elokuva The Petrified Forest, mutta sita en loytanyt ja tammonen "ei niin kehuttu" tuli vastaan. Naihin aikoihin Bogart naytteli paaosia b-leffoissa ja George Raft:in hylkaamia gangsterirooleja a-leffoissa. Tama on yksi niista lukuisista gangsterirooleista. Elokuvassa entinen poliisi yrittaa soluttautua gangsteriporukkaan saadakseen kaikki linnaan ja Bogartin nayttelema gangsteri epailee hanen olevan poliisien leivissa. naista lahtokohdista lahdetaan liikkeelle. It's nothing extraordinary but Edward G. is great as usual on the right side of the law this time. It's nice to see Louise Beavers getting to play something besides a maid. She's all dolled up as a flashy numbers runner.
