Geraldine Page's best work ever. This is a heart breaking story about an elderly woman's journey back to her hometown named Bountiful. Great Texas scenery. It deals with the aging process and family values. A truly great scene is when Geraldine Page sings the him "Blessed Assurance." This movie reminded me of how Millican Texas, in my family was viewed- a once great town that is dying. It is hard to comprehend that the home you have always had, physically and in your heart, is dying. I love this movie!

A sweet little movie with a wonderful performance by Geraldine Page who won an Oscar. Rebecca DeMornay has a small role playing a nice girl for a change. Bittersweet ending. Opens with a wonderful rendition of "Softly and Tenderly" sung by Cynthia Clawson.

A moving tale that made you cheer for Geraldine Page. Her performance of a recluse trying to return home shows her longevity and her range as an actress.

A great story full of meaning and weight. I love John Heard in this movie as he walks the tight rope between his mother and his wife.
