A clever independent thriller, with good performances from Scott and Martin. As an aside, it's nice to see a thriller not resort to sleaze, violence or profanity, and thus retain a PG rating, and still maintain the tension throughout.

If you want some sort of weird and polite escapism this is amazing.

One of the cleverest films I've seen. It starts off as a sleeper set in the world of high finance, but quickly morphs into the ultimate con-job where the victim sees no way out. Superb performances all around.

Nobody saw this movie. But who cares, you're better than them. This David Mamet psychological thriller is classic Mamet. The quips come at you like darts, and the exchanges are like fight scenes. But if you know David Mamet, you already know that. Steve Martin gives a hall-of-fame performance which is even better than "Cheaper by the Dozen," as well as "Shop Girl." The twists and turns will confuse you, but when you've figured it all out, you'll think how clever this Mamet guy is. This movie isn't so much a one trick pony, as it is a journey through a fast paced thriller, it's not "The Sixth Sense." It's quintessential Mamet, nuff said.

The Spanish Prisoner is for anyone who likes to think and feel along with the characters.
