suffers from some bad acting but as far as its Photography and atmosphere it's pretty f****** good. New York in the 80's fascinates me.

Three stars for three things - bags of 80's neon atmosphere, Michael Winslow and because I'm in absolutely gaga about the soundtrack. I can't explain it, it's infecting my head like a fever. It's just so *perfect* in terms of style that it blows my mind. I'm ill with this seriously, you can't find it ANYWHERE. I don't think it was even released although it says 'Soundtrack album available on Island Records and Tapes' in the trailer. It's one of those rare ones that only matters to a handful of people across the planet. There's a void now, it hurts to leave this unresolved.

** (out of four) Vincent Spano plays a young thug, who rules the drug and gang filled streets of the lower east side of Manhattan, known as Alphabet City. He becomes a target when he refuses a job by a local crime boss. Despite a decent turn by Spano, the film is routine. This story has been done do many times and usually better.

Monday, September 8, 2014 (1984) Alphabet City ACTION CRIME DRAMA Mediocre effort that's overshadowed by many unmemorable 1980's music I would want to forget. Depicting a particular time of New York City's worst slums when the drug trade was a common occurrence in an area called Alphabet City. Co-written and directed by Amos Poe uses the "Alphabet City" as a backdrop to showcase a young good looking guy named, Johnny (Vincent Spano) whose making his daily rounds by collecting money with no problems whatsoever. And it starts to complicate things as soon as his boss instructs him to commit arson to the very building where his mom and sister are residing in, forcing him to chose. Viewers are not given any clear explanation why his boss wants him to do this, putting us in the dark. 2 out of 4 stars

A weird movie by the direction of Amos Poe. I mean the guy has random close ups of a guy zipping up his fly lol. Its quite funny some of the shots he takes and the fast motion jarring almost jump cuts. In all the movie is not really good for one main reason the character is not likable at all. He comes across as being kind of weird to have chosen this life which we have no idea why and now he hates it. It starts off in the middle of things instead of giving us a reason why we should like him. The acting isn't the worst I have seen but the stunt double at the end was hilarious. Also Michael Winslow is really weird in this and only does like one sound effect and it is not very good. I would not recommend this movie but then again the shoot out at the end is really funny and poorly executed so you might get a laugh or two out of that.
