The movie is bad, and not in a good way. Bad because it wants to be taken seriously. I don't mind the slight differences or take on the source material in a way to compensate for the anime's more adult related themes. However, it falls about on every level. Acting's bad, character development's bad, camera work, editing, and the overall plot. Sawa in this movie is completely uninteresting. She's weak in regards to physical strength, mentally, emotionally, and her motivation for everything she does is confusing. She's just not cool. Not to mention Oburi is irrelevant. This movie deserves a 0 but the only reason why I gave it a two is because of Sam L Jackson. He's the only cool thing about this monstrosity.

sounded interesting but a big letdown... seemed like they were trying too hard to be edgy. came across as over the top and gory... not much substance. the main reason i checked it out was b/c of samuel l jackson and honestly he was the only good thing about the movie.

Ome of the true jewels of the year! I love it! It's been done before (Columbiana for example) but it's still refreshing for it's motif and worth your time.

Story adapted from the popular Japan animation of the same name starring India Eisley as Sawa in the dystopian future attempting to seek retribution to the criminals she suspects who might have something to do with her parents deaths. She accomplishes to get away to execute her alleged attackers with the help of a homicidal detective, Lt. Karl Aker played by Samuel Jackson who pays with by feeding her some kind of drug. Reminiscent of a futuristic La Femme Nikita.

Kite is a OK action drama a girl stun out on drug that she kills thugs that get in her way. Samuel L. Jackson stars in this low budget movie. C+ (2014)
