The Ring Virus (1999)

Sun-ju is a reporter who uncovers a series of inexplicable deaths that occurred simultaneously. Her investigation leads her to a resort, where she finds a videotape filled with mysterious images. After viewing it, a message appears on the screen that she has just been cursed, and that in order to save herself she must - end of tape. Somebody has erased the rest, leaving her horrified and uncertain of her next move.

Another good (but why bother?) remake of Ring.

I dont care who says differently this IS better than the original American piece of crap... It's got suspense, spookiness and an unerving atmosphere. All the whilst avoiding the pitfall that most horror movies fall into: Excessive violence.

Here's a confusing film to reviews. What were dealing with is a remake of the original Ringu from Korea that actually stays far closer to the novel than the first film. The weird thing is that The Ring Virus assumes you've already seen Ringu, and thus doesn't bother to explain the actions of the two main characters. To say the least, it's an interesting look at another directors attempt at remaking Ringu, but it's easy to see why this film is the forgotten remake. If your like me, and you're a HUGE fan of the Ring franchise, then it's worth seeing this movie. If your a big fan of the American Ring films, check out the Japanese quadrilogy and see how much you like them before venturing over to this Korean film.
