Dead Bang (1989)

Los Angeles homicide detective Jerry Beck searches for the murderer who killed a police officer on Christmas Eve. The investigation takes Beck inside the violent world of hate groups and white supremacists, who are hatching a deadly plot to attack even more innocent people. Beck must also confront his own personal demons, including his growing problem with alcohol, if he wants to track down and stop the violent neo-Nazis before it is too late.

Not bad. Don Johnson's hard-drinking divorced LASO detective is miles away from the glam and glitter of the character he was playing on TV's MIAMI VICE at the time. Only the beard stubble stayed the same. John Frankenheimer never returned to the heights he had acheived in the 1960s with THE MACHURIAN CANDIDATE and SECONDS, but this film isn't half bad and is superior to 1985's pedestrian 52 PICKUP. One of a series of films in the late 1980s that featured far-right wing white supremacists as the villians.

Decent 80`s action movie with Don Johnson playing a beat down broke cop who even got a restraining order from his wife and kids. but his new case involves a shot dead cop which takes him cross country in the search of bloodthirsty neo nazis with automatic weapons who won`t go down without a fight. good action scenes and funny one liners.

Armed with a flashlight and a bad attitude, Don Johnson kicks scumbag ass in this cheesy 80s action movie that crashes through every cliche in the book with tremendously entertaining gusto, thanks in large part to Johnson's all-out performance and John Frankenheimer's sure-handed direction. The script is pretty hokey, but it's fast-paced and surprisingly well-crafted for this kind of movie. Definitely deserves a cult following.
