This movie understands the one thing most movies this day and age, seem to forget about, and that is a good, well rounded, story. The story revolves around two loveable scamps who get into mischief one day, when principal Skinfloot gets them in trouble. Then they get high, for almost an hour and a half, while a talking joint guides us through the movie.

Le Chat du Rabbin is humorous and equal parts reverent and irreverent look at religion, race and sexuality. The artwork and animation is gorgeous and the characters are vivid. However, the story meanders at times under the weight of its own musings and the audience longs for the wit of "le chat".

The movie is trying to do far too much and doesn't do anything well. "Ambitious" isn't the word here; "random" is more like it.
