The Pianist (2002)

The true story of pianist Władysław Szpilman's experiences in Warsaw during the Nazi occupation. When the Jews of the city find themselves forced into a ghetto, Szpilman finds work playing in a café; and when his family is deported in 1942, he stays behind, works for a while as a laborer, and eventually goes into hiding in the ruins of the war-torn city.

The ideal film to show your kids when they complain about how bad their life is. The truly tragic factor about this film, apart from a pair of Nazis tossing an old man from his wheelchair over a five-story balcony, is that there is absolutely no redemption for Brody's character. Sure, Poland ends up fighting back the Nazis, but Brody is not allowed vengeance for the loss of his loved ones, some of the many killed in Auschwitz. Intense, tragic and insanely well-crafted.

Great achievement! A very realistic movie, pictures the period of world war 2 and what happened to Jews better than any other movie a saw.

Extremely well-done movie set during the holocaust. . Surviving the holocaust through the gifted talent of the piano. Teens and families should watch this together.

This is just one of the most amazing movies i have ever seen. It is an incredibly depressing movie, but in the end it is a worthwhile experience to encounter. In short, it makes for an extremely moving, incredibly powerful, and deeply unforgettable.
