Certainly a war movie... no romance, no women, lol... but it really drew me in and I actually learned quite a bit about how air raids were run in WWII. I wouldn't rank this as one of Gable's greatest performances, but he gave a convincing performance as a General who is doing what is right for the success of the war. The politics of war also play out rather well in this film and certainly the plot makes the picture. I wish the ending would have been handled slightly better... I wasn't really sure what happened, but overall I liked this one.

Another War movie from MGM. This one stars Clark Gable who plays Gen Casey Dennis. Dennis is leading a fight against the Germans with his squadrons of bombers knocking out factory's that are developing and building jets for the German air force, the Germans are sure to win the war with this fighter. Losses are high on each days bombing. 320 men killed the first day 580 men killed the second. Should he be relieved of his command. This movie was taken from a play, and is quite excellent. 4 Stars

Command Decision (1949) Based on a successful stage play by William Wister Haines. It?s a war movie without much action, but deals with the drama from a general's point of view. Brigadier General K.C. Dennis (Clark Gable) has a rough job. He must send his men off for daylight bombing raids deep inside Germany to attack various Nazi factories that are manufacturing the Luftwafa's new jet fighters. If more of the jets are mass-produced and operational, it would effect the war for the allies. The morale of General Dennis?s men is bad. The casualties are high. He's hiding from reporters and visiting dignitaries, and getting his assistant, Technical Sergeant Immanuel T. Evans (Van Johnson) to run interference for him. But, when Major General Roland Kane (Walter Pidgeon) visits the base General Dennis has to justify what he's doing. The movie features a large male cast, including Brian Donlevy, Edward Arnold, John Hodiak, Charles Bickford, Cameron Mitchell, and John McIntire.

Command Decision is an excellent film. It is about Army generals struggle with the decision to prioritize bombing the German factories. Clark Gable and Walter Pidgeon give fantastic performances. The screenplay is good but a little slow in places. Sam Wood did a great job directing this movie. I enjoyed watching this motion picture because of the drama and adventure. Command Decision is a must see.
