This movie was better than expected. I could not figure out who the killer was until towards the end of the movie and that's always good with a mystery. When it's not too easy to solve. The movie has several class acts and it was fun to see Elizabeth Taylor and Rock Hudson play married again so many years after "Giant" :) It's definitely worth watching...

Decent murder mystery with Angela Lansbury as the ingenious miss Marple. Elizabeth Taylor and Rock Hudson both play central characters.

Easily one of my favourite Agatha Christie dramatizations, hands down. At first I wasn't sure if I wanted to accept Angela Lansbury as Miss Marple, especially since she was so much younger than Miss Marple at the time of the film, but the more the movie wore on, the more Angela Lansbury endeared her interpretation of Miss Marple to me. Amazing.

Kim Novak is the standout here with a wonderfully droll performance, but the picture borders on poor taste sticking as closely as it does to the Gene Tierney tragedy.

An Agatha Christie film that tried to cash in on the success of the previous Christie adaptations ("Murder on the Orient Express"; "Death on the Nile"; and "Evil Under the Sun"). Unfortunately this is the weakest of the adaptations despite featuring a bevy of wonderful performances (Lansbuy is perfect as the dotty Miss Marple). The script is unfocused and omits alot of material form the source, making it not only difficult but near impossible to solve the mystery. In addition, the film seems to be more concerned with displaying veteran actors than telling a story, so the script is structured more as a series of set pieces to display each actor's talents rather than a continuation of the mystery and a natural progression of events. Still, it's entertaining and the revelation to the mystery is fairly clever (though seems a little random as nothing really hints at it). A muddled, but not all together bad, mystery film.
