Cool Hand Luke (1967)

When petty criminal Luke Jackson is sentenced to two years in a Florida prison farm, he doesn't play by the rules of either the sadistic warden or the yard's resident heavy, Dragline, who ends up admiring the new guy's unbreakable will. Luke's bravado, even in the face of repeated stints in the prison's dreaded solitary confinement cell, "the box," make him a rebel hero to his fellow convicts and a thorn in the side of the prison officers.

most Paul Newman films are good , But this one is outstanding. the pain and determination of luke carrying on when he is already beaten. george Kennedy's best rolle too. "I'm still shaking it boss"

***Spoiler Alert*** Everybody who thinks that bucking the system is cool needs to watch this film, for two reasons. First, no matter how cool you are, Paul Newman is cooler. Second, I think a lot of people fail to see the consequences Luke faces because of his decision to not go along. Does it make him any less honorable? No. But, in the end what has he accomplished? He's gotten himself martyred of course, but what comes of it? A few stories of fleeting hope shared by the remaining prisoners, and an unintentional strengthening of the wardens' control. Was it worth it? That's only for Luke to know.

Have you ever wondered where the famous quote, "What we have here is a failure to communicate" came from? After seeing this movie you will never look at that quote the same way ever again. This is a story about trying to break men down, a specific man individually. But it is about working together as a people, not giving up on hope, faith, or yourself, and not letting anybody break you. One of the greatest movies of all time.

A great movie, this is a classic. The acting in this movie is one of the best performances by a entire cast in all of movie history The story may be a bit slow by modern standards, but is is still very good.
