OMG!!! Did I just give a Russell Crowe movie 5 stars! Did hell freeze over? Seriously, this film is seriously good and kept true to the James Ellroy novel.

This is a great movie, because it has very fresh dialogue (deserved the Oscar for Adapted Screenplay), great acting from the main stars (particularly Russell Crowe) and a great plot.

One of the best crime dramas I have ever seen. It weaves the story of three different LAPD cops in this marvellous period piece. Russell Crowe, Guy Pierce and Kevin Spacey are all electric, Danny DeVito charms us all with his beautiful acting, Kim Basinger wows men all over and makes them wish they were Bud White. Curtis Hanson's directing is flawless and the movies truly deserves all the praise that it has received.

Guy Pearce is one lucky man. I rarely use the word "classic" when speaking of any films of made in the last tweny years but two of his films are easily modern noir classic - Chris Nolan's Memento and this. L.A. Confidential is a masterpiece built around brilliant writing and impeccable acting all around.
