Will Montgomery, a U.S. Army Staff Sergeant who has returned home from Iraq, is assigned to the Army's Casualty Notification service. Montgomery is partnered with Captain Tony Stone, to give notice to the families of fallen soldiers. The Sergeant is drawn to Olivia Pitterson, to whom he has delivered news of her husband's death.

A very powerful and moving picture about two soldiers who are given the task of informing the families of fallen soldiers that their loved ones have been killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. It's not an easy film to watch. Some scenes are truly gut-wrenching, but it's one of the best films to tackle the current wars to date. In my opinion, it is a superior film to "The Hurt Locker."

A powerful and emotional account of the side of war we never see. Great performances from Woody Harrelson, Ben Foster and Steve Buscemi.

Really really enjoyed this film. I felt invested and interested in the characters right from the get go. Ben Foster and Woody Harrelson were outstanding in their roles. I leaned toward Foster a little bit more because I really enjoy characters that seem hardened, tough and rough hewn on the outside but actually have an empathetic heart beating deep within. The supporting cast was good as well. Really enjoyed seeing Steve Buscemi once again. Didn't realize how much I missed him until he made his appearance about a quarter of the way into the film. Script was tight and well written with direction solid yet subtle and controlled. Two dedicated yet scarred (emotionally AND physically) soldiers doing their best to do a difficult, thankless job. I salute you and this marvelous film...
