Will Montgomery, a U.S. Army Staff Sergeant who has returned home from Iraq, is assigned to the Army's Casualty Notification service. Montgomery is partnered with Captain Tony Stone, to give notice to the families of fallen soldiers. The Sergeant is drawn to Olivia Pitterson, to whom he has delivered news of her husband's death.

Some of its finest acted moments are in complete silence. An honest, moving drama. One of the best of 2009.

This highly emotional film has an incredible script, as well as amazing performances from Ben Foster and Woody Harrelson (and even Steve Buscemi, even though he has short screen time). The editing and directing are top notch, and leaves you with an incredible impact about a different side of war. An amazing film.
