The Killing Fields (1984)

New York Times reporter Sydney Schanberg is on assignment covering the Cambodian Civil War, with the help of local interpreter Dith Pran and American photojournalist Al Rockoff. When the U.S. Army pulls out amid escalating violence, Schanberg makes exit arrangements for Pran and his family. Pran, however, tells Schanberg he intends to stay in Cambodia to help cover the unfolding story — a decision he may regret as the Khmer Rouge rebels move in.

Absolutely essential viewing. How these events took place after the Holocaust is beyond belief. Harrowing and life-affirming all in one.

One of the best war films of all time. Enough said.

my favourite vietnam film that isn't Apocolypse Now or FMJ, there about war, Killing Fields is about war but from the point of view of a journalist not a soldier. it takes you through every emotion mainly sadness, and when John Lennon and 'Imgagine' kicks in i defy even superman not to have watery eyes.
