A father's search for a cure become an obsession, and we are right there with him, in a film that is richly detailed with the turmoil this family goes through. George Miller expels a lot of medical information and makes it really palatable in a film. We even learn a little. This is a film about using your intellect and challenging yourself as far as you can go. This is an intelligent, dramatic, and incredibly powerful film.

As directed by George Miller, this film has an appealingly brisk, unsentimental style and a rare ability to compress and convey detailed medical data. It also displays tremendous compassion for all three Odones and what they have been through.

A truly powerful story. George Miller strikes gold with this one (pun intended, but it's not that kind of oil). Normally I'm not a fan of these medical dramas but this one was just so well done that I couldn't help be sucked in. I even had to fight, with limited success, back tears when the end credits began to roll. Only complaint is that Nolte's accent sounds forced for a lot of the film.

I find it hard to sit down and watch "disease" movies, but this one was so different. It wasn't just about a sick little boy but also about the parents who refused to do nothing and watch their little boy die, but wanted to fight the awful disease. This was such a great movie and it, as i can only put it, HURT my heart. There was so much emotion in this movie, i could feel the parents pain, how they said things to Lorenzo or how they said things to each other. The hurt in their eyes did all but seer the image in your mind. This movie was so good and i would recommend it to anyone. I just wanted to jump into the movie and make everything all better and at the end of it all, it let a mellow sort of happy feeling pulsing through me. That was a first for me.... 5 stars!!

I watched this on tv today. Had seen it when it first came out, but now at the end there is an update and shows how many children saved by this oil.
