This is an original and distinctive work of cinema. As such, it will not make everyone happy, and cannot be perfect. I always appreciate any attempt, successful or not, to make movies with a vision. The visuals are perfect, the score hypnotic. Casting, as usual in this day and age, can be debatable, but acting is good and effective. The pace is glacially slow, and it is meant to be so. This is not an action movie, but a dreamy work of visual art.

Lowery wittily interprets the original text, adding a sexual dimension and a better ending, and only once strays close to Python terrain (when the ever-brilliant Barry Keoghan pops up as a lolloping scavenger). It’s close to a cinematic holy grail.

I think The Green Knight requires multiple viewings to fully appreciate and understand. The visuals are stunning and the set design is very immersive. The cgi can be questionable at times and the pacing may bother some but overall this is a very impressive film.

Definitely not for everyone but it deeply resonated with me. Be very open to it and do yourself the favor of watching it. Preferably on the big screen! One of the best fantasy movies I've seen in a long time. Might be easy to follow if you are familiar with the original Arthurian poem.
