Absolutely fantastic story and dialogue. Truly a feel-good film without being using cheap tricks like little kids, or lovey-dovey effects. Denzel is TRULY a master, and perhaps my most favorite actor of all time?

Excellent film. Much more complex than I first thought. Deals with issues of race, gender, ideology all sent against a 1930s background.

Parmi les films les plus inspirants! Realise par Denzel Washington, produit par Oprah Winfrey. L'histoire vraie et bouleversante d'un prof noir qui insuffle a ses pupilles l'art de debattre d'une opinion. Il les a menes jusqu'a vaincre une joute oratoire a Havard, et ne furent pas vaincus pendant 10 ans! Un modele de determination, de convictions et de courage devant l'adversite!

They would find it unthinkable that decades in the future, serious black students would be criticized by jealous contemporaries for "acting white." They are black, proud, single-minded, focused, and they express all this most dramatically in their debating." - Roger Ebert. I couldn't have disagreed with him more.
