Almodóvar lets rip with a story of great emotional intensity, while retaining his signature stunning visual style and a central performance quite unlike anything previously seen in his work. A potent and strikingly well-delivered combination.

Usual Pedro Almodovar - feminist characters and their mystic troubles and perplexed bondings, playing with red colors, platonic sexuality, melodious Spanish background scores but it lacks in ample drama which can hook you to the screen. More of a sustained apocalypse of woman mind than hormonal racing.

Marisa Paredes is immaculate in this, she even balances out some minor weaknesses in the narrative flow. Fascinating and captivating story of a woman re-defining herself professionally and personally and distancing herself from a failed relationship. I did not care for the ending at all - but apart from that, another good one from Almodovar.
