Rebellious, quick-witted Erica Vandross is a 17-year-old firecracker living with her single mom, Laurie, and her mom's new boyfriend, Bob, in L.A.'s San Fernando Valley. When Bob's mentally unbalanced son, Luke, arrives from rehab to live with the family, Erica finds her domestic and personal life overwhelmed. With Luke and her sidekicks Kala and Claudine in tow, Erica acts out by exposing a high school teacher's dark secret.

As parables about the pitfalls of sexual harassment claims go, it's still better than the thematically similar but far blunter Submission.

Really enjoyed the film. Reminded me of Risky Business, Breakfast Club and some of the coming-of-age, caper-style teen movies of the 80s. Yes it was a little shocking, and the language was gratuitous but maybe I'm just getting old! There was no precise message as such but looking back on the movie in years to come it will be a good portrait of adolescence in 2016. The acting was fantastic.

Max Winkler is aiming for a mix of teen angst and dark comedy I can admire. But since Flower can't decide whether it would rather be more honest and relatable or delicious and dark, it's really not enough of either.

Flower is indeed, smart, clever, and knowing - it's also ultimately vacuous, superficial, and self-absorbed. In that way, there's no distance between it and its protagonist at all.
