Rebellious, quick-witted Erica Vandross is a 17-year-old firecracker living with her single mom, Laurie, and her mom's new boyfriend, Bob, in L.A.'s San Fernando Valley. When Bob's mentally unbalanced son, Luke, arrives from rehab to live with the family, Erica finds her domestic and personal life overwhelmed. With Luke and her sidekicks Kala and Claudine in tow, Erica acts out by exposing a high school teacher's dark secret.

Pitch black humor combusts like fireworks in this refreshing, ribald, raucous tale. This is a cult classic that will endure.

Really enjoyed the film. Reminded me of Risky Business, Breakfast Club and some of the coming-of-age, caper-style teen movies of the 80s. Yes it was a little shocking, and the language was gratuitous but maybe I'm just getting old! There was no precise message as such but looking back on the movie in years to come it will be a good portrait of adolescence in 2016. The acting was fantastic.

While consistently raunchy, Flower manages to remain funny even after the final act takes a tonal shift and heads into even darker territory.

Its performances are fine - Deutch is sassy and vivacious and Hahn a reliable hot mess - but Flower never manages to justify its puerile premise.
