The Falling could have been a great horror film, though you will have to wade through most of it to see why.

There is no versatility or something distinctive, I mean it's a drama that plays with the rules of any drama, regardless of its theme however it is a good drama, Maise Williams gives the best performance of her short career, not counting what she has done in Game of Thrones. It's not a very eye-catching movie but I don't think it will leave you disapapointed.

The Falling definitely falls into the category of "arty" but it's an interesting watch nonetheless. Maisie Williams has always been a formidable actress and she brings a lot more to her character than the director could likely have ever hoped for. The story really captures the complete confusion that is puberty in an all girl's school but falls flat at the end, choosing to wrap the story up in a neat little bow.

The Falling's refreshingly all-female perspective expects the viewer to become wholly caught up in its broad surge of feeling, yet there's something unsatisfactory and disaffecting about the film's asinine finale.

The beauty of the film is that it is at once personal and universal, with an ability to make you feel nostalgic for friendships and teenage journeys that were probably, at the time, not actually very nice at all.
