The Facts of Life (1960)

Middle-class suburbanites Larry and Kitty grow bored with their lives and respective marriages. Although each always found the other's manner grating, they fall in love when thrown together--without their spouses--on vacation. On returning home they try to break things off, only to grow closer. A holiday together will finally settle whether they should end their marriages.

An unusual film for both Lucille Ball and Bob Hope!Such a great movie I cried and it's known as the "cheater movie" with my mom and I. It's always on TCM check it out.

For those who always wondered what would happen if Lucy ever hooked up with Bob Hope, here is your dream movie. Hope and Ball play off one another well in this comedy about an affair between frenemies. Ball plays the tired and true housewife who betrays her husband out of boredom while Hope is tired of the organized life his wife forces down his throat. The movie is solid and it tumbles along nicely, I only wish the comedy didn't lie so heavily on Hope. Ball is a hilarious woman, but the script mainly segregates her to the straight man role. A decent enough laugh.

ANY FILM WITH BOB HOPE AND LUCILLE BALL COULDN'T BE TOO BAD. BUT, IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH BETTER. SOME OF THE COMEDY IS FORCED, BUT OVERALL IT IS ENJOYABLE.
