Pierre Hunter, a bartender with unyielding optimism, returns to his tiny hometown after his parents' death. This movie tried really hard to be the love child of Fargo and Odd Thomas. The cinematography and locations were stunning and the performances excellent but the plot was just too convoluted, slow moving, and not as quirky as the director clearly intended. It kept us thinking it would have a grand ah ha moment / payoff that just never came. Very disappointing ending that left nearly all questions unanswered.

Glaciers didn't go through this area, so there's no drift (silt, clay, sand, gravel, and boulders). So the area is therefore driftless. That's very interesting. To geologists.
