Pierre Hunter, a bartender with unyielding optimism, returns to his tiny hometown after his parents' death. When he falls for the enigmatic Stella, Pierre is unknowingly pulled into a cat-and-mouse game that involves a duffel bag full of cash, a haphazard yet determined criminal, and a mystery that will determine all of their fates. Interesting and whimsical crime/love/revenge story. It's not sure exactly what it's going for, as a result, what could be an amazing indie film is a bit wishy washy.

Saw this movie at Tribeca last year. It's very different from the book, but the casting and photography are both outstanding. The story might be a bit confusing, with a leading character that seems as lost as spectators might find themselves at some points throughout the movie. Specially outstanding is Deschanel, probably the most mysterious character in the movie, who gives a great delivery that has nothing to do with bubbly, happy Jessica Day. She's dark, she's ethereally beautiful- and she is intriguing from the beginning. Plaza also gives a delivery far from her Parks and Recreation days, and keep an eye out for Langella. Best part of the movie is its cast, with solid performances from everyone.

Great cast, I mean wow! The world that these filmmakers create is rich and immersive. I could practically smell the green grass. Subtly thought provoking. Still thinking about it days after. Gives Zoey great room to stretch her talents beyond her usual "cute girl" roles.
