DVR is on the fritz so discovered this flick on TCM on Demand. This is a fascinating film. The first half is very contemporary dealing with issues in what might have been a fresh way at the time. The second half seems to have been touched by a censor. In any event, it's a very entertaining movie anchored by a terrific Oscar winning performance by Norma Shearer. An aside- the men certainly wore as much makeup as the women, maybe more.

It's doubtful that this melodrama, in which Norma Shearer challenges society's double standards about sexual mores by flirting with several men, could have been made after 1934 due to strictures of the Production Code.

Just watched this on the movie channel last night. Good acting (Norma Shearer won an Oscar for her performance), and an interesting look at relationships in the late '20's. Today's women will hate the double standard and especially the ending.

I really liked Robert Montgomery's role. He played a great fun-loving scoundrel. Shearer deserved her Oscar for her role; the moment where she tells off her hubbie is my favorite. And boy, those parties looked like a lot of fun.
