The Deadly Trackers (1973)

Sheriff Sean Kilpatrick is a pacifist. Frank Brand is the leader of a band of killers. When their paths cross Kilpatrick is compelled to go against everything he has stood for to bring death to Brand and his gang. Through his hunt into Mexico he is challenged by a noble Mexican Sheriff interested only in carrying out the law - not vengeance.

Turns absurdly misogynistic when it goes South of the border.

Violent revenge western focusing on a once pacifist sheriff now out for blood at any cost. Harris plays well in the lead, and shows great range as his character goes through an entire array of emotions. Examines questions of morality, duty and justice in believing fashion. Smells like (and unfolds) like spaghetti, even though it really isn't. Great supporting villains, too - including one with a piece of railroad track for a hand. Good, but short of great.

Movie that is very much in line with other Westerns of the early 70's. The Sergio Leone-Sam Peckinpah influence is present. Excellent cast, and the setting in old Mexico gives it a spaghetti Western/Wild Bunch feel.

perfect dble feature with sam pechinpah's 'the wild bunch' this owes a big debt to the 1969 hit western that was also extremely bloody and violent.

The first few minutes of the film must have been damaged in storage , because it goes frame by frame till the bank robbery. The movie is ok, but kinda slow.
