This has to be my favorite movie in the whole for so many reasons!

Very well produced, excellent cinematography and score. It's a good story but way overlong. The period detail is only fair. It wasn't always authentic looking. The performances are fine. Great use of location filming.

Routine western revenge thriller which spends a lot of time developing Steve McQueen's character. The pattern of his revenge tactics give the film a clever structure.

A great setup but lousy execution due to lumpy plotting with many boring and pointless parts, plus an ending that undermines the dark spirit of the story.
