Valdez Is Coming (1971)

Old Mexican-American sheriff Bob Valdez has always been a haven of sanity in a land of madmen when it came to defending law and order. But the weapon smuggler Frank Tanner is greedy and impulsive. When Tanner provokes a shooting that causes the death of an innocent man and Valdez asks him to financially compensate the widow, Tanner refuses to do so and severely humiliates Valdez, who will do justice and avenge his honor, no matter what it takes.

Yet another spagetti western. Burt was aging in this film but gave a great performance.I got the DVD online. I think its that good

This is a slow story, but it keeps you in your seat. Burt Lancaster does a superb job as the patient, slow, and highly intelligent Valdez. By the end of the movie, you'll honestly feel the tension in the air.

Adapted from the novel by Elmore Leonard. Burt Lancaster made three westerns all in a row, 'Valdez', 'Lawman', and the mighty 'Ulzana's Raid'. Here he plays a softly spoken (mexican) constable, who is set up to kill an innocent man. Lancaster shows his class and is almost perfect as the quiet man, on a mission for bloody revenge.
