If you set your expectations lower, based on the low-ratings reviews and then watch the movie, you are going to be very satisfied that it was not bad at all. One of the best movies in 2017 for me ... I loved it ... ;)

I thought this movie was actually good. It wasn't confusing at all, great action at the end. Critics can be poisonous and destroy a movie's success by pre-setting viewer's mindsets. This is an example of that - copycat critics and their sheep. How on earth did this movie confuse? "Cheesy"? "Incoherent"? "Dark"? "Action sequences were hurried"? I didn't get any of that - well, maybe the "cheesy" part, but find me a fantasy/action movie that isn't just that - it's part of the definition! Did it deviate from the book? I think so, I read the book three times but not in the last dozen years so I forgot much of it. Doesn't matter though, the movie was solid. Some critics just need to cut another membership card for another field from the back of a new cereal box.
