Nosferatu is the oldest exsisting dracula film and is a very tight tie to the 1939 dracula but i think this is the best dracula film and the best silent horror film to me.

The first of the Vampire Movies... and what a treasure it is! This film has become legendary, and often imitated by lesser film makers. There are so many iconic images that this film has given us that when you watch it, you can see why it holds a high place in Film History. The use of shadows and lights to create the mood and atmoshphere of creeping terror was innovative and inspiring- showing that you don't need a bunch of computers to make a good film. Definately a movie for Horror Film fans.

After all these years, 'Nosferatu' is still one of the finest Dracula films ever made. The cinematography creates such an eerie an environment while the groundbreaking makeup effects made one of the greatest characters ever put on screen. Everything about the picture has a genuine creepiness to it and it is something that few people have ever learned to recreate. This is one you'll not want to miss, and I also recommend Tod Browning's 'Dracula' and even Werner Herzog's remake of this 'Nosferatu'. All of which are very fine films...

FW Murnau's original 1922 vampire classic is an outstanding piece of cinema that has withstood the test time. The lighting and framing is way ahead of its time and the performances, despite the german expressionist exagerations, adds a true sense of dread. No film can match Murnau's beautiful and bizzare version of dracula.

Nosferatu is a masterpiece, a rare treat, a work of horror art. What makes this movie so great is that very little of it is given in absoluteness. The audience is left, for the most part, to imagine all of the important details. In style with all of the silent films, imagery is heavily relied upon to tell the story, and I can't imagine this story being told in color or with sound. The audience begins to fear the very sight of the vampire. Max Schrek gives a great performance, and the make up artists did a fantastic job giving him a very unique and customed look. The sight of him is quivering. Simply put, this is every horror fan's absolute must-see. 10/10
