He was born in 1929 Tocopilla, a coastal town on edge of the Chilean desert, where he discovered the fundamentals of reality, as he underwent an unhappy and alienated childhood as part of an uprooted family.

Indulgent, Felliniesque, funny, sad, philosophical, political, religious and some might even say incestuous, Jodorowsky's latest features the filmmaker as the compassionate guardian of his 8 year-old self...

The magical dreamlike narration of Jodorowsky's particular style is as hypnotic and magnetic as always, yet this story is not as powerful as it intends to be.

Jodorowsky's first film after 23 years is a bizarre semi-autobiography, full of colourful surreal moments, blending, also, history and politics with his personal philosophy. The result is satisfying enough, although the film seems tiresome at times.
