The Cable Guy (1996)

When recently single Steven moves into his new apartment, cable guy Chip comes to hook him up—and doesn't let go. Initially, Chip is just overzealous in his desire to be Steven's pal, but when Steven tries to end the 'friendship', Chip shows his dark side. He begins stalking Steven, who's left to fend for himself because no one else can believe Chip's capable of such behaviour.

This is a really funny movie. Jim Carrey plays a very troubled individual. Hilarious, but troubled.

The most underated carrey movie ever, his best work, stiller directed this, its way too dark, people are phucking pussies, brodericks best work, this is a hidden gem, owen awesome, too bad people are all phucking wishy washy pussies who have no taste and want disney crap in their brains all the time, Movie Dick OVER & OUT

im shocked when i see this film get bad reviews this has to be without a doubt my favorite jim carrey comedy, its so dark and twisted and insanely funny that i dont see how you could not enjoy this film. i think this film is so underrated and maybe people were lookin for jim carrey to be ace ventura in this but it wouldnt have worked, his character is brilliant and i could watch this film over and over again, definately in my top 10 comedy films ever.

Extremely "slick". You MUST watch this more than three (3) or four (4) times to "get it"; that's if you will "get it". I guess it plays to the viewers "humor"; if dark, sadistic, and gross humor are your "thing", then this is one of the greatest. By far, Jim Carrey's best film, in my opinion...by far. The plot, the players, etc. are fantastic! VERY "smart" movie!

This might be the most underrated movie of all time. To date, it's still my favorite Jim Carrey flick, and it's still a movie that I pull out 2-3 times a year for another look-see. In this one, Carrey plays a character who is never named, pseudo-stalking Matthew Broderick in a relationship that many see as the definition of twisted friendship. As per usual with Carrey's earlier movies, the movie is also infinitely quotable, what with the Cable Guy's patented lisp, the karaoke and Medieval Times scenes, etc. - but underneath its surface, you'll find a movie that's a compelling metaphor for people who watch too much TV, and the dangers that media obsession entails.
