The story of Santo Bastucci, a local banker with a rare gift for memorizing numbers; he is unwittingly cast into the forefront of an aging wiseguy's bid for power, Manny "The Hand" Mistera. Santo is caught between the loyalty he has for his cagey father-in-law, Benny, his childhood friend, Basta, and his streetwise uncle, Matteo, the pastor of their Brooklyn church.

The Brooklyn Banker is beautifully written and masterfully directed. The film captures the true Italian culture of 1970s Brooklyn. Troy Garity shows that he can truly carry a feature film. Veteran actors Paul Sorvino and David Proval provide a very satisfying performance as well.

Excellent! Authentic film set in the 70's. New way of looking at the mob. Portrays the lead as a sympathetic everyday man who gets caught in a scam, opposed to a glorification of the glitzy mob life. Best genre film i've seen in years.

Acting chops are occasionally on view — Mr. Sorvino and Mr. Proval play well together — but the plot is weak, the subplots tacked on.

Awesome Mob movie. Great acting from some of the original mob guys Proval from Mean Streets Sorvino from Good fellas. Many Soprano wise guys in here as well.
