The whole movie seems to be about hair, slicked-back hair, hair so meticulously coifed and lacquered that bullets would bounce off of it. Your first thought is that the budget for mousse must have climbed into the zillions.

For anyone who accuses this movie of looking like a bunch of tough kids trying to take over the streets; apparently they don't realize that every figure-head of organized crime had to start off somewhere at a young age. The performances are great, and the traditional mobster concept of loyalty couldn't be anymore solid. The only thing keeping it from being a classic is the fact that neither Scorsese or Coppola were able to get their hands on it.

A mob flick with Christian Slater, Patrick Dempsey, and Richard Grieco? I'm there. Glad I was. Interesting story, entertaining characters. If you're looking for something brilliant, this probably isn't it, but if you're looking to enjoy some old school young mobster action, then check this out.

The virtue of GoodFellas was that it took the glamor out of mob sagas, and it's going to take a picture a lot better than Mobsters to put it back in.
