A very accurate account of the impossible task of training 5 young men to be "combat ready" Marines and their tour-of-duty in SE Asia. This may be R. Lee Ermy's first film. It's funny as hell to watch today and see how young he was then!

You'll think this is a rip-off of Full Metal Jacket until you learn this was made nine years earlier. Good, not marvelous.

i saw it whilst quite young ( under aged ), it made quite an mpression . it is a great life as it was war movie. i have seen many of same genre, this remains one of the best.
