In the summer of 1863, General Robert E. Lee leads the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia into Gettysburg, Pennsylvania with the goal of marching through to Washington, D.C. The Union Army of the Potomac, under the command of General George G. Meade, forms a defensive position to confront the rebel forces in what will prove to be the decisive battle of the American Civil War.

Very realistic and touching movie. And the North winning is always a plus. So much false facial hair. One of the two best Civil War movies along with Glory.

An allstar cast plays out the days leading to the Battle of Gettysburg. Amazing historical accuracy coupled with great acting make this a must see for any history buff

After going to the battlefield last year and walking the vast fields where 130000 troops fought, I thought this movie accurately depicted the carnage of battles of the era. I especially liked the focus on the 20th Maine and General Lee's great blunders despite Longstreet's strong (and correct) objections.

Based on the book by Michael Shaara this movie is a beautiful representation of the terrible battle of Gettysburg and the people involved.

An AWESOME movie which depicts the epic battle of Gettysburg during the civil war. Brilliant reenactment and historical accuracy combined with great acting and music make this a must-own.
