Wada, a salary man, is enlisted to venture off to China to investigate a potential Jade mine. After his arrival, Wada encounters a violent, yet sentimental, yakuza, who takes the liberty of joining his adventure through China. Neither Miike's versatility nor talent can be questioned after this movie.

A very gentle adult fairytale... not what you would expect from this director. It has its trademark flurries of violence but all are in context with the story & its characters. This is a genuinely top draw product & I don't understand why it is so hard to come by in the UK.

Miike comes up with yet another visual masterpiece set amongst the beautiful backdrop of China's Yunnan mountains. Has some funny moments in it for example a raft being pulled along a river by turtles. I suspect many will be turned off by the simple storyline. I found it captivating and enthralling.
