During a routine patrol, a reporter is given permission to interview a hardened cold-war warrior and captain of the American destroyer USS Bedford. Enjoyed this movie probably not as scary now a days but at the height of the cold war this movie and Fail Safe showed just how myopic our vision of nuclear war was at the time the whole world seemed to be.

The ending is a real piece of work that comes out of nowhere, and even though the film is a little repetitive up to that point, it's all worth it for the titular 'incident' in the end.

The Bedford Incident is a fantastic film. It is about an American destroyer captain who is determined to confront a Soviet submarine caught violating territorial waters. Richard Widmark and Sidney Poitier give incredible performances. The screenplay is good but a little slow in places. James B. Harris did a great job directing this movie. I enjoyed watching this motion picture because of the drama.

Wow! What a great movie! That's what you call a action drama. Poitier was a very interesting character.
