For a US war film, it was done with an understanding, which most US war films are not, except for the Civil War.

A fantastic anti-war film below the waves. The script is excellent in conveying the mutual respect between both captains even though they are enemies.

Excellent war movie showing not only good sea war battle scenes, but also mutual gallantry displayed by both sides. Another proof that a good movie could be enjoyed any time regardless of when it was made.
