Jacy's back in town, after a mildly successful acting career, life in Italy, and the death of her son. Folks assume Duane and Jacy will resume their high school romance. And Sonny is "tired in his mind," causing worries for his safety. Can these friends find equilibrium in middle age?

The Last Picture Show was a mood piece drenched in acrid despair. Texasville is two hours of flat, Southern Gothic whimsy. The movie has the form of a soaper without the juicy content.

Good but far from great sequel to Bogdanovich's "Last Picture Show."

Fairly lukewarm sequel to an American classic. Has its moments, but not enough of them.

Definitely quirky and hokey at times, but there is also a lot of depth, good directing, and some excellent quotes to boot in this Dallas-on-crack movie. I didn't realize this was a sequel to The Last Picture Show until after I saw it.

The town seems to be as preoccupied as ever with its own personalities and memories, as if it were sitting for its portrait.
