Un vrai beau film sur la famille, la recherche ou la fuite des origines, et ou la figure du pere, monstrueuse ici, domine tout. Le noir et blanc est superbe, et Alden Ehrenreich est une vraie revelation (Vincent Gallo est pas mal non plus!). Quelques minutes de trop peut-etre, mais c'est un film A voir.

Certainly it isn't the greatest of Coppola's pictures, or even of his independent productions, but those are pretty high standards. It has a verve and vitality that's been missing from his pictures for 25 years, and its various and visible flaws all result from too much of that verve rather than too little. I enjoyed it tremendously.

This is a five star movie, without question. Vincent was his typical captivating self (this would be my 3rd Gallo film, so I'm a Gallo semi-pro); he carries this film, but his co-stars hold their own. In my humble opinion, this was a postmodern masterpiece. There are very few films that combine all of my favorite aspects of life: poetry, dysfunction, music, and stunning visuals. This is one of those films. I need the soundtrack. And I need to watch this film again.

Un film tres etonnant pour le grand retour de Coppola. Le scenario est hermetique, mais c'est un de ces films qu'il faut laisser murir pour pleinement l'apprecier. La mise en scene est vraiment magistrale (lumiere, decoupage, direction), Coppola utilise parfaitement tous les ressorts que lui autorise le noir et blanc, et le cote magnetique de ces acteurs, Vincent Gallo, et la decouverte Alden Ehrenreich (jamais entendu aurparavant). Le film a un cote largement onirique, qui en fait aussi tout son charme apres coup. Il y aussi des ressorts de tragedie grecque, tout en situant son film dans le Buenos Aires d'aujourd'hui. Bref, ce n'est pas un film facile, mais c'est hautement recommandable!
