there's too much to say about this meaning so i'll boil it down to "see it." it's one of the most creative, stirring, well-acted, well-filmed movies i've seen in the theater in ages.

Looks absolutely stunning! A complicated story with a memorable performance by Alden Ehrenreich, who looks like a young DiCaprio. Written and directed by Coppola, shot using an F900 and edited using FCP by Walter Murch.

Tetro is an indulgent, ocassionally meandering and excessive, but richly beautiful and evocative film that explores themes of family like only Coppola does. Dark, brooding, densely emotional and operatic, it's a stunningly beautiful and multidimensional film to watch, using multiple art forms to tell its tragic story. The sense of time and place are blurred, the gorgeous black and white cinematography practically drips off the screen, and the soundtrack is fantastic and evocative. It's not perfect and has its clumsy moments, but this is a film for a lover of film.

...as [a] densely layered, intensely visual work of creative autobiography, Tetro claims a key place in the Coppola filmography. At least, for the first time in the last few decades worth of filmography, it feels like it's got somewhere to take you.
