This low key affair has a such a tense emotional undercurrent it feels as if it will fall apart at any moment. Yet it never does. This is the kind of film where shit just happens and people deal with it for better or worse.

It may seem today like a Hallmark movie, but for 1983, this rural Texan drama dominates with strong characters, fine performances, and expansive direction.

Great story, beautiful film, deeply touching. Robert Duvall is amazing portraying a very broken man who slowly finds his way back to the light. Everyone should see this one.
