Very ponderous but worthwhile. Could have been great though.

3.8 stars. An unusual pace, where the tension builds slowly with images and voices rather than action. The Anticlimax is appropriate, but the lack of blood is an odd choice.

It's a breath of fresh air to watch this compelling directorial debut from Jeff Nichols, having watched "Mud". Southern-fried filmmaking, thy name is Jeff Nichols.

A wonderful and realistic feeling film. A great lead performance, wonderful cinematography from Adam Stone (as always), great music, and an all around success of a film.

What David Gordon Green did for North Carolina, Jeff Nichols does for Arkansas. A great and unique movie presented with incredible subtlety. Hopefully this will finally make Michael Shannon a star. Though I doubt it.
