Sharpe's Peril (2008)

Our story begins at the end of Sharpe's Challenge. Sharpe and Harper are en route to Madras when they encounter a baggage train from the East India Company traveling through hostile territory. Chitu, a legendary bandit leader in control of the area, strikes fear in the members of the party. When an attack occurs Sharpe takes control of the situation, leading the group 300 miles through enemy territory and training the disorganized, rag-tag group to be proper soldiers. Despite all these responsibilities, Sharpe still manages to find time for a little romance...

Well, just like the first installment, it's a perfect matinÃ© movie. Also, the story seems to be an 'original' and not a mismash from several books, like in 'Sharpe's Challenge'. However, all default elements are there - villainous aristocratic officers, fair ladies for Richard to charm and of course his riflemen... or at least the one that is still alive.

So predictable and filled with unnecessary character deaths! I was quite disappointed by this mini-series. Sean Bean wasn't engaging at all. I didn't see the series preceding this one, but after this I have absolutely no inclination to.
