Sea of Love (1989)

Seen-it-all New York detective Frank Keller is unsettled - he has done twenty years on the force and could retire, and he hasn't come to terms with his wife leaving him for a colleague. Joining up with an officer from another part of town to investigate a series of murders linked by the lonely hearts columns he finds he is getting seriously and possibly dangerously involved with Helen, one of the main suspects.

Great scene where cops try to write poetry - then meeting the prospective dates in a bar

Good suspense film with great acting (as usual) by Al Pacino and John Goodman.

This film is truly a Pacino classic! I love Al any way but this movie had a serious plot with a few humorous parts that had a me chuckling...especially the speed dating scenes. Great move.

A tense, original and intriguing thriller. Al Pacino's performance and character are magnificent, and the story is effectively suspenseful. Ellen Barkin is downright gorgeous in this movie, and an extremely talented actress.

Pachino's character is extremely rich as written and executed, and Barkin is up to the challenge. Excellent story despite the "wait, say what?" ending.
